Durban's Gqom pioneer, DJ Lag, released a six-song project titled Uhuru intended to pay homage to Uhuru, a club in Durban's Claremont township.
Uhuru was released through Good Enuff. The project seeks to salute the spot and appreciate the long journey Gqom has taken from being a fringe sound of dingy Durban clubs to a formidable cultural export that is sought after in some of the planet's famous clubs.
DJ Lag features musician and dancer Moonchild Sanelly in a song titled Uhuru Dis.
