Theodore Mobisson, professionally known as Jidenna, dropped his second studio album, "85 to Africa" through Wondaland Records and Epic Records.
The album title refers to an interstate highway that runs through the southeastern United States and was inspired by an unfortunate event that took place in 2017 where Jidenna and his crew were embarrassingly booted out of a mansion they were renting.
The remarkable project is a follow-up to his debut full length, The Chief, which came out in 2017 to wide critical acclaim.
In "85 to Africa" Jidenna brought with him American rapper GoldLink, the musical duo of 'Wondaland Art Society' St. Beauty, Nigerian singer-songwriter Mr Eazi, American singer Mereba and Seun Kuti, singer, saxophonist and Fela Kuti's youngest son.
The album is imagined as a artistic diasporic conversation between America and Africa, where the artist attempts to bridge the gap between the North American Empire, as well as the rest of the continent, and reconnect with his African heritage.
